This fort was built in 1671 by s minaire de saint-sulpice with stone and wood. End of 7th century, the extreme point of the west island was very important for fur trade and security reasons. Former officers and regiment sent people there to hunt the mohawk community. First person who would get the land of senneville was an officer, and finally had to give his concession to jacque lebere, a fur trade merchant. Windmill were prohibited on seigneurie of mtl bc they are exclusive right for the seigneur. Beginning of 8th ce marked the beginning of the treaty of montreal. Lebere decided to built a stone fort in the area. It was burned by the retreat of the american during the way of independence. Was bought in by pm of canada and mayor of mtl in 1865, john joseph. All the traffic from ottawa river passed through here for the fur trade.
