Students will visit a local venue, museum, or gallery in the city to select an artwork. Arte 398 aa: winter 2016, social justice based art review: 25% Due: due march 7, length: 750 - 1000 words (3-5 pages) Font: times new-roman/ size 12, double-spaced, apa 6 referencing. You must see the artwork in person this semester. You will make a detailed sketch of the artwork to be submitted in your review. Include the following standard information: the artist"s name, the date of the artwork, material, and dimensions and the location where you saw it. Students will research the artwork, the artist and the issues depicted or engaged. Social, political, spiritual, and cultural content will be researched and considered in the analysis of the art piece. Provide an analysis of the formal aspects of the artwork (elements and principles). In your description you will draw on this analysis to illustrate how the social justice issue is presented or emerges.
