Self-concept is the totality of each person"s beliefs about one"s inner self the way one thinks about oneself. It"s a set of ideas, feelings and attitudes that a person has regarding their identity, worth, strength and limitations. Reflects physical, emotional, social and spiritual self. Affects how one adapts to situations i. e. if someone does not deal with past trauma. They may not be able to handle particular situations. Process that develops and changes over time i. e. learning how to open up ourselves (introverts extroverts) Life experiences: attitudes, beliefs, values as learned constructs that influence self-concept. Attitudes: learned predisposition to respond favourably or unfavourably towards something. Beliefs: the way in which we structure reality i. e. if you grew up w/ dogs, you think dogs are better than cats.
