Document Summary

Are a means of adjusting the relative volume of a range of frequencies in an audio signal. They make it possible to turn up (boost) or turn down (cut) a range of frequencies without affecting the other ranges. Each range of frequencies that you have control over is referred to as a band. The most basic type of equalization is the treble and bass controls on home audio equipment. The treble control adjusts the relative volume of the high frequencies. The bass control adjusts the relative volume of the low frequencies. Volume changes to each band can be plotted on a graph called an eq curve. Used to graphically represent the changes that have been made to the timbre of a track. Eq curve does not represent the frequency content of the track; rather the changes that have been made to it. Note that it is not possible to boost or cut only one frequency alone.
