MIAP-130 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Sustain Pedal, Specific Volume, Expansion Card
Document Summary
An electronic system designed primarily for recording, editing and playing back digital audio. At least one input device for adding or modifying musical note data. Acts as a host for the sound card, software and other input and output peripheral devices. Provides storage for project files and related audio files. Controls all related hardware components and provides a user interface to allow for recording, editing, and playback. Most daws have extensive midi recording, editing, and playback capabilities. The daw is essentially a simultaneous digital model of an analogue tape recorder and a mixing console. Standardized layout that includes transport controls, a mixer and a waveform display. The mix window is laid out in a similar fashion to an analogue mixer. It contains faders, pan pots and in some cases more advanced controls for each track. The edit window contains a waveform display and is were most editing functions are performed.
