Critical sexuality studies aim to study system of power of dominance. Whiteness also hides though, whiteness isn"t named, it hides behind the monarchal of humanity. We hide behind the we"re all human thing. This hides racial relations behind general categories, like man, woman, heterosexual, trans, etc. ^man vs masculinity (white masculinity gets experienced in a particular way compared to the masculinity of those in different categories) Yes heteronormativity governs us all, but it governs us all differently. Whiteness = a relation of power based on racial relations, its invisible through these universal categories (like human) Need to challenge the ways whiteness often stalls anti-racist movement (or anti- oppression) Whiteness plays huge role in defining normality. World = constructed within whiteness (hard for us to see because its constructed after our own image) Challenged by women of colour she was working with (ignorance of white colleagues) What is preventing solidarity within the feminist movement.
