Milgram experiment: shocking someone obediently under authority even against better judgement. Tuskegee syphilis study: black men with syphilis were told they were getting treatment but really they just wanted to see how the disease progressed without treatment. Truth commission into genocide in canada: arose out of a tuberculosis hospital; they injected tuberculosis into children to study it. Casw has established ethical principles concerning research. Minimize risk to participants, gain consent, confidentiality, & accurate reporting. Research with human subjects must undergo ethical process. Make sure there is no harm to participants (no matter the type of research) Tell people what you are researching about (usually in a form) Understand any risks for researcher and research participant. Justify your research; why do we want to research what we"re researching.
