In a broad sense you can think of poverty as relative. A person who has a lack of resources/finances and it is their number 1 problem in life (has a huge influence on how they are living). A person who is unable to provide for themselves/or their family or who is living paycheck to paycheck. Children who live in poverty are not likely to do as well in school. Yes, we see it in the form of begging on the side of the street and homelessness. There is also poverty that we cannot see (people struggling to keep a roof over their heads and the unemployed). We have a hard time because we cannot relate to them.
