Travis hirschi: characteristics of a psychopaths reflect lack of attachment to others. Involvement: most people are too busy n their own lives to commit serious deviant acts. Most deviant behaviour is committed by young people cz they have more alone time: belief: having a belief in common value system shared in the community. Belief in the laws and morals at hand. Shaming people can be used as informal use of punishment instead of fines or jail time. Stigmatic shaming: arrested, charged with offence, prosecuted then judge. Intended to destroy moral bond between individual and society. Acknowledgement of crime needed, straightening bond between community and offender. Positivist theories attempt to explain deviance and criminal behaviour. Constructionist theories: also referred as symbolic interaction theories. Found that people who did drugs had a bond with each other. All social groups make rules and enforce them. Those social rules describe some behaviour as good or bad.
