Illegal in canada: linked to underage marriage, usually religious based. Follow hetero-normative roles: man/woman, 1 man married to multiple woman. Gender roles in family (traditional: women cooking/cleaning. 21% engaged in some form of consensual non-monogamy in their lifetime. Canadian research institute for law and families (2016) Fared same as those in other types of families. High parental involvement, receive a lot of attention. More supervision: more parent/child interaction, especially for younger children, less likely to seek childcare/babysitters.
