Many assumpitons about old age which gives society a negative view of old age. Gender and racial inequalities persist into old age. Gender, class and race shape the way old age is perceived. We are sold the idea that slowing and stopping aging is possible. Some cultures expect seniors to keep working until becoming hospitalized. Others make elders their leaders because of their supposed wisdom and knowledge .
