Protestants path to salvation was hard work and prayer. Strong influence of materialism on our ideals of happiness. Legacy of calvinism is alive in our culture. Calvinist will say fate landed you in the position you are currently in. Today we use our strength and weaknesses to find which environment is better for us. Lack of work is sign of poor character. Not just o live but to be good people.
