Thousands of people storm the street dressed in team colours. After the 7th game, young fans, mostly males, and mostly canucks fans, rioted. Cars were burned, windows burned and store damaged. Took pictures of the damages and posting them. (why?) Reasons why: violent subculture, peer pressure, mob mentality, alcohol etc. : hockey subculture/violent masculinity. Being a man is defined by the willingness and ability to commit acts of violence. Violence becomes central to the identity of the young men. Hockey is unique in allowing players to fight to enforce a code which can"t be found in official rules. Sport based subcultures (mma) produce violent notions on what it means to be a man. We shouldn"t be surprised that occasionally riots erupt when you marinate these subcultures in alcohol and subject them to defeat: anarchist subcultures.
