Sociology: sociology has several different methodologies and perspectives, different levels of analysis critical sociology; Ie: critiquing sports, the post game chat. What went wrong, how they came back or didn"t from that. Critique inequalities and forms of domination: karl marx; his critique on capitalism,revolutionary but it also has issues as well, dorothy smith. That will allow for choices over others, their biography, historical events leading up to their decisions: responsibility- key for sociology. Started from the bottom, rose to the top: social forces: Altruistic: over integration- duty or obligation (to society?) (ie: war movie, when a guy takes a grenade for the team) Doing what they did for the greater good. Egoistic: the power of society is weaker- more individualistic. More likely to see these types of suicides. Anomic: norms are weaker- loosely regulated social norms of behaviour (ie: lcbo regulating their times thus regulating our availability to alcohol) Fatalistic: over regulation to the point of fatalism (ie: prison situation)
