Eastern traditions (hinduism: moving to understanding death and afterlife in eastern life. Also deal with eternity, of god, time, etc. View of time in monotheistic traditions: each historical event, a unique time, and time has a definitive beginning and end in human history. One lifetime in monotheistic traditions: view of time related to view of person, e. g. , monotheistic, person has one life and one death. Many lifetimes in eastern traditions: the way we think of time influences the way we think about ourselves. Hinduism: standard, word used by outsider to refer to religions found in a given area, sindhu- ancient indian (sanskrit) name, hindu- ancient persian name, 12th century- islamic context have hindu a religious connotation. Indos- ancient greek name: 16th century- hindu meant non- muslims and took time to separate hindu and indians, many religious systems within hindu religions.
