Not a survey course used to introduce you to the variety of religious traditions and practices/ Introducing to its main perspective, such as knowledge and specific studies in the field. Three areas within the larger field of religion studies. But now we are talking about the academic narratives of religions and these kind of issues and questions will occupy us for the next few weeks. 3 areas of focus: the academic study of religion. This is a big challenge in this particular field of study: the major components of religion. Ex: sacred objects, religious experience, myth, ritual, etc. Different kinds of each examples above (varying in different religions and cultures) Gives you illustrations of these different components based on case studies drawn on different religions of the world.
