Borderline personality disorder: painting portraits of each disorder. An enduring pattern of inner experience and behaviour that deviates markedly from the expectations of the individual"s culture (cid:523)manifested in at least 2 of the following areas: cognition, affectivity, interpersonal functioning, or impulse control) Has an onset in adolescence or early childhood. Personality disorder clusters: the 10 pds are grouped into three clusters based on descriptive similarities. Anxious/fearful: the clustering system has serious limitations and has not been consistently validated. Individuals frequently present with co-occurring pds from different clusters. Individuals with this disorder will assume that other people will exploit, harm, or deceive them, even if no evidence exists to support this expectation. Individuals appear to lack a desire for intimacy, seem indifferent to opportunities to develop close relationships, and do not seem to derive much satisfaction from being part of a family or other social group.
