Normal function person will look at a fork and will know what kind of uses it has. The more things you can think of the more creative you are. People with cognitive impairment wont be able to think of other ways besides eating in which you could use a fork. A person with cognitive impairment has a very simple view of life. Typical: being curious and attempting something dangerous doesn"t make it cognitive impairment. doesnt mean without risk of cognitive impairment. As someone gets old its not atypical to have cognitive deficiencies. Recollection of event, ability to work with numbers deteriorates. Dementia: activities of daily life encompass a lot of work with short term memory. Delerium: can"t say what day or time it is. Difficult to pinpoint the beginning of the amnesia. Person who can often track its beginnings are spouse or housemates. Reason it needs to be verified is to know when and where it started.
