PSYC 3000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Standard Deviation, Histogram
Document Summary
T score is a way of producing standardized scores. In a t score the data is assumed to be normal distributed, mean is 50 and standard deviation is 10. You then compare the scores obtain with those of a psychologically normal person (50 mean + 10 standard deviation. ) Take all observations in sequence and plot them in a graph. The outlying point could be anomaly or mistake. Run series plots helps to draw our attention to outlying data points in order to verify if a mistake has been made. Often in experimental designs the conditions change which could change the expected outcome. Order must be preserved when a run series is plotted, this allows for outliers to be seen more easily. Difference with previous plot is that we see the relationship between the two variables in this one.
