Examines how we process our social world, focusing on thoughts about others & our relationships. As academics, we love thinking about ppl, but not everyone loves to do extra thinking: cognitive misers: extra thinking avoiders. Presented w/ list of colours: instead of reading colour name, asked to name colour of word presented in, e. g. , blue should be stated as red, yellow should be stated as green. Knowledge structures which relay important info about concept, its attributes & relations to other concepts: concept could be self, others, object, etc. We go about life w/ expectation of how things occur: expectations met we"re good, expectations not met need to reanalyze. Scripts = knowledge structures of how ppl (or objects) act in certain situations: guide behaviour & include motives, goals, intentions, etc. Priming = process which activates specific schemas in ppl increase how accessible these schemas are.
