Unique levels of traits that are consistent throughout time. Pattern of distinctive thinking, emotions and behaviours influence way we interact with world. The study of personality: is personality innate or learned, nature vs. nurture, is personality conscious or unconscious, unknown/internal motives vs. Awareness of traits we have: is behaviour influenced by internal or external factors, person vs. situation, personality psychologists draw from all other areas of psychology in order to paint a complete picture of the nature of personality. Genetics, biology, neuroscience, social psychology, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, psychodynamic psychology, etc: goal is integration of knowledge, one of the main areas of focus in personality psychology is the study of traits.
