We rely on the background and the environment to solve problems, to make decisions and they will tend to get distracted if we ask them to pay attention to detail. These are the people that are the most likely to be distracted by irrelevant information. This also means you are more likely to synthesize information, as well as have a better ability to read emotions and be socially competent. Tend to take classes or go into careers in education, social work, psychology, situations where they are in contact with people. Here we tend to rely on our own sensations to solve problems. Tend to go into exact sciences, math, chemistry, engineering. Fields that do not require team work, no contact with others. They seem to be more detached from others, they are better at filtering distractions. Rod & frame test: we bring participants into a dark room & give them a joystick.
