Research: psychologist who are studying people or animals to try to determine basic human characteristic (influences on behaviour) Applied: therapist and other psychologists who are using knowledge gained through research to make a change to the real world. Areas of specialization why? (so we can focus on one field and get good results) Also a result of the need specialization. Clinical phycologist (works with people who live in general community) Vs. psychiatrist (is a doctor, has a medical degree, works in hospitals) Numerous applied areas - marketing & research, social work and coaching. Choose one behaviour and look at different area of psychology might approach the study lets look at playing games or specifically, why do people play games? . Ex: cheating, or telling the person tickling you that you"re about to pee. The style of games, strategies, rules might change when we grow up. Athletes might not play video games but engineers might play games.
