Detour : the importance of moral worth . It is not sufficient to say that our psychology leads us to act merely in accordance with morality. Zombies and robots are not considered morally praiseworthy there is no conscious reasoning behind their actions therefore not praiseworthy. A person"s behaviour must have the right kind of psychological features. The person has to do it consciously, or from knowledge, or because of some kind of intentional judgement. Only moral agents (individuals with the right kinds of psychological capacities) can act. Motivation begins with occurrent belief about what actions might be right (similar to utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics) Judgements give rise to motivation: the sentimentalist. An action is morally motivated if it is driven by the right kind of emotions.
