Categorical imperative (universal law formulation): act only on that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it become a universal law. Categorical imperative ( means-ends formulation): act with reference to every rational being (whether yourself or another) so that it is an end in itself in your maxim, and not a means to an end. You should not use people to get what you want in life. Factory farms are farms that intensively and industrially raise animals while simultaneously raising questions about animal and environmental ethics. Ethics is the study of right, wrong, and morality. Western philosophies of ethics tend to be human-centered (anthropocentric). Environmental justice is a principle and body of thought and research, stressing the need for equitable distribution of environment goods and environment bads btw people no matter their race, or gender. Environmental ethics is relatively new in western philosophy, and the discussion has turned toward how people should treat non-human entities.
