Ethics is the study of morals so were looking at morality the same way biology looks at organisms. It is also called axiology but it also covers aesthetics and other things. Morality - tells us what is good what is bad what is right what is wrong. From the book argues we only act morally because society watches us. If there is no chance of being caught, you will do something that is morally wrong. Morality can be divided into approximately 2 subsections: value theory good and bad (people or things or characteristics, deontic theory (ch. 8) right and wrong (usually actions) Morals can refer to a person group or society thinks you should or should not do (drinking), or refer to objectively right or wrong things (murder) Deontology usually black and white, there isn"t many things between right and wrong. What morality/ethics is not: law, prudence, etiquette, religion.
