Document Summary

Hazard: potential thing that can cause harm: ex: cigarettes = hazard. Risk: something you engage in that is a hazard: ex: lighting that cigarette. Stressor: stimulus, something you judge to be bad. What makes 1 stressor greater than the other: severity/frequency, controllability, predictability, acute vs. chronic, ambiguity/uncertainty. Physical stressors: these are stressors that put strain on our body. Inflammation: immune system is activated: can cause inflammatory responses when present, the brain is interpreting these responses as stressors. Validity: whether or (cid:374)ot (cid:455)ou are (cid:373)easuri(cid:374)g what (cid:455)ou thi(cid:374)k (cid:455)ou"re (cid:373)easuri(cid:374)g. Reliability: if i do the same study several times, i get the same response: conclusion: not valid. Animal models: the minimum requirements for an animal model to be valid is that there needs to be a similarity in symptoms, physiology & similar response to treatment when going from a human to an animal model. Females are 2/1 more prone to depression.
