There are many second-language adult learners who have an accent, but naive- like grammar. Other examples of creolizaion: nicaraguan sign language. Spontaneously emerging sign language in a new community. Children exercise an innate capacity to restructure their input quite radically , with a bias to certain grammaical structures and regulariies (singleton & Newport 2004) kids made their own sign language. First cohort: woman tap man tapped (nvnv: in front of chest: neutral area. Second cohort: verbs moved to the end of sentence: signs done to the side to show diference of subject and object. Proves language is an organism: structure and self-replicaing: simon : singleton & newport 2004. The parents learned asl ater 15; their sign language command is non-naive, containing many inconsistencies and errors. This was simon"s only linguisic input before age 7. I. e. the input is impoverished (poverty of the simulus) S&n"s main result: simon"s language was far more regular and structured than that of his parents.
