Most of the time, youth get a promise to appear, instead of being held in custody. Timmy and his (former) friend billy have had a falling out. A rude comment in the hallway turns into a shoving match. Billy pushes timmy first, but timmy shoves billy back towards a locker. Billy slips, hits his head and gets a gash requiring stitches. The police investigate and take statements from the students who witnessed the event in the hallway. Timmy attends the police station with his mother and does not give a statement. He is charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
