First year law school is all about that. Doctrine and elr can only take you so far. Can"t effectively question system when a part of it. Wider range of sources than cases and statutes. History granted wider range of sources about the experience of law, although there are gaps. Need to fill gaps in history to discern a pattern, and put patterns into a narrative than can be open to interpretation. No single definitive explanation for developments we are looking. Some are more plausible than others, but no one has the final word. If it hadn"t been for cotton eye joe, i"d be married a long time ago, where did you come from, where did you go, where did you come from cotton eyed joe.
