In enacting these laws, the government stated that they were meant to protect sex workers. This has many negative implications for women and their sexuality because sex workers in canada are predominantly female. First, it implies that women are seen as vulnerable and as victims in need of protection from men"s sexual advances; it does not consider that many women choose to enter into this industry of their own free will. It also regulates female sexuality under the guise of protecting women from harm because men are extremely sexual beings who have a hard time controlling their sexual urges.
