Occupation theory of property: the law protects the possessor, trachuck v. clink + friends (page 254) Defendants found $ 475, 000 and brought the money to police and said they found money at the oil rig. The farmer claimed the money because he was leasing the property. Both made claims based on the occupation theory of property. In the end the court was in favor of the defendants since they had found the money. Labour theory: the idea that is based on adding value through labour. Property and personality: do what you want with your property, autonomy, problem; those with more property have more rights. Economic theory of property: assets have different value to different people, dependent on markets, adding value you through markets, assets/property rights should be transferable. John locke (page 223: all resources in nature belong to mankind in common, each person owns property in their own body, there own labour, their own reason.
