Organizaion of legality in canada lecture 4. Without the constitution, canada is just a piece of land without any legal standing or legitimacy, With the constitution, there are diferent levels of legal administration. It outlines how the law works, for example it outlines how an election works, who can run for an election etc. What is federalism: federalism is a form of government that embodies the principal of territorial representation. It does so by giving regional governments the exclusive right to pass law on particular subjects. No or minimum subordination between levels of government. Constitution and the rule of law: a protection against the democratic tyranny of the majority : the rule of law the idea that no body is above the law. Enacting the rule of law is like when nixon was threatened of being impeached and stepped down because of it. A canadian example is mike dufy, a senator who has been charged with fraud.
