Document Summary
Ethos: the distinguishing character, sentiment, moral nature, or guiding beliefs of a person, group, or institutions; also; ethic. Practical reasons (credibility, acceptance, being seen as a good journalist) Even more reason for honest journalists to take on the responsibility of ethical actions. Changes in media landscape demand constant review of ethical standards. There are guidelines, etc. but not strict rules, you need to make your own decisions. This evolves constantly (especially now everything is so fast-pace) Journalism ethics matter more now than ever before (donald trump) Be conscious when people are vulnerable (ex: in shock after car crash) Ethics was the study of what"s good, both for you and the individual and society as a whole. About distinguishing among choice, all choices may be morally justifiable, but some more tha others. Treat others the way you"d want to be treated. You could be changing someone life with your story (or ruin it)
