Document Summary

Seasonal water source, surface supply & groundwater recharge. Down in place for agriculture land, more snow and longer it stays is good. Warmer the more moisture hold , different crystals compared to colder drier air mass. How they fall depend on how they compact. Snow pack , crystals are always changing compared to soil. The height of water if a snow cover is completely melted (on a corresponding horizontal surface area): Usually colder at surface: leads to thermal gradient. Largely determined by thickness of snow pack & mean snow surface temperature. Cold = top part of snow pack gets really cold, but closer to ground stays warmer because air pockets result in insulation. Ex. close to fence, edge of driveway, around trees, close to house, between 2 hours. Elevation ( lower the warmer temperature, higher is colder ) Where the winds affects accumulation and factors forests doesn"t get packed as much vs fields get drifts and packing.
