When a culture or people is dying and there is a desire to preserve it. Flaherty wanted to show the inuit people as he believed they had been, not as they actually were, The camera cannot see everything at once, but it makes sure not to lose any part of what it chooses to see. An image cannot tell everything we want to know about. Is what we see all that the camera could have seen at what happened. the time of shooting: the seal scene the camera isn"t showing anything.
