Benedict anderson: nation is an imagined political community; and imagined as boht inherently limited and sovereign. You imagine yourself to have things in common with other people in your nation. Imagined: because you"ll never know everyone in the nation. Limited: limited by the fact there"s another nation we like to distinguish ourselves from. *a nation must be limited, a nation including everyone in the world isn"t a nation. Community: nation is always conceived as a comradery (you"ll identify more with canadians of other classes than the same class in another nation, even if you might have more in common with that person in another nation.
