ERTH 2401 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Mesozoic, Sea Level Rise, Subduction
Document Summary
Where di(cid:374)osaurs roa(cid:373)ed: dinosaurs lived in an ancient, paleo environment which changed drastically while they roamed which drove their evolution and other contemporary animals. Need to understand geological principles to understand why it changed to the degree it did: alberta badlands, they reflect an ancient environment that was extremely rich in dinosaurs. Anyone can come across bones eroding from the sediments: the different rock beds look different. As a geologist need to look at the various layers, taking a variety of samples and doing a variety of tests on them to try to reconstruct the paleo environment. In cretaceous period there were shorelines as sea level was high and western.
