Germany, but skull islacking and its position in marginocephalia is still uncertain (possibly ceratopsin) First cranial fragments found in western us by leidy and marsh in late 1800"s, but not properly. First pachycephalosaurid dome discovered by lawrence lambe in alberta, named stegoceras inn identified. First and only reasonably complete stegoceras described by c. m gilmore in 1924. Skull and partial skeleton, 2 m in length. Animal estimated up to 8 m long. Pachycephalosauridae was formed for pachycephalosaurus and stegoceras in 1945. 1970s-1980"s large number of specimens from: Homalocephale : flat skull but thick-headed (a juvenile character?) Very spiky but domeless skull, resembles a dragon. Oldest definitive pachycephalosaurid in north america, and possible the world. Over a dozen pachycephalosaurian species, many based only on the skulls/domes.
