Historically, discrimination and oppression have been conceptualized as population specific marginalization with a particular focus on race, class, ethnicity, and gender, and more recently, sexual orientation, disability, and age. Disabilities throughout history have always been viewed in a negative manner and ultimately people of all ages with disabilities were dehumanized. A group of people who, because of their physical or cultural characteristics, who are singled out from the others in the society in which they live in and are often oppressed with differential and unequal treatment. Over the course of history, the human body has been both object and subject of diversity. Given the social construction of normality and the body membership.
