Can fixated income status links to crime. Changes in one variable which is directly responsible for changes in a second variable. Other variables that could affect the participants responses. Identifying these variables: common sense, simple logical reasoning, past experience, past research. Low iq, can question the participants responses, it might be wrong. More time consuming than the holding constantly. Qualities are similar in both batches of groups. Measuring iq: not necessarily using the same people. No baseline, no idea if there was a change because of the treatment. Research design that measures the behaviour of a single group of subject both before and after treatment. Insert questions in the questionnaire in order to see whether participants falsify their answers. Some tests are used for stats designs and between subjects. Individual differences can become a confound, the people in each conditions can be different and therefore cause a problem for the data.
