It will not vary a lot domestically within political party. Criminal justice is hostile in the sense that when there"s a crime punishment is needed. It is an obligation to this train of thought. Crime is an infraction that is an attack on society. Ex: if someone who kills cats isn"t punished, then society is seemed as not caring about that animal. Some groups don"t believe in punitive forms of punishment (incite! In the middle ages, when a crime was committed against someone. It was seen as simply against them not society. And vendetta was often sought against the criminal by the victim"s family, friends etc. The king then becomes the symbolic victim of crime after this. In the beginning a peace money offering could be given to the king to erase the conflict. If you were poor, corporal punishment was given instead. As imperial power grew so did the list of criminal acts.
