Do a summary of the story on the slide for this chapter. For romans their most important event that defined their calendar was the birth of the city. That means our 753 bce is their year 1. A woman gave birth to twins, sons of the god mars. This woman was not allowed to have sex or anything like that. So when she gave birth, she put them on a basket and a she-wolf fed them and kept them. When they grow up and discover their story, they decide they want to create their own city. Then they fight about who gets to be king. In the dispute, romulus kills reimus and gets to be king. The master narrative of greek culture is the trojan war. The iliad and the odyssey speak about it. For the romans, a prince aeneas escaped troy and made his way to italy.
