We don"t know why people move their eyelids during rem sleep. Most of our dreams are in rem and also ones that are interesting and most remembered. Hypnogia: when you enter dream state and your have jerky muscle movements in bed. When we sleep we shut down a lot of sensory input, but not all. Frontal areas are taking in info from brain stem and creates dreams from it. People with visual thinking skills are better at remembering them. Even when someone remembers a dream there are many parts that they say they cant remember. No way to tell what people are dreaming about without self recall. Dream diary: people write diary every single dream they remember. Scene shifts: location of dreams changes very quickly. People sometimes used to dream in black and white when color tv wasn"t a thing. Dreams could be series of unconnected events, however normally a narrative or plot.
