If you already believe in the theory you"ll interpret stuff as going along with the theory. Forces processing of material and gives you an external record to consult after. Advantages of taking notes by hand or laptop. Taking notes by hand = remember more. Doing more processing (for meaning, not a reflex copying reaction without engagement) Why: many theories, most plausible = doodling prevents your mind from wandering.
