70s: main figures came together and drew up a report of the different field in cog-sci. How the different fields collaborate, etc. (it"s starting to be recognized) How we learn, memory systems, etc. (education field) How mental processes work (how these processes are implemented in organisms) Mostly interested in human research (not really interested in animals) Also interested in when mental processing breaks down (planning, problem solving ) More likely to agree with someone if you already believe in what they are trying to prove (doesn"t matter what their arguments are) Social psychology: how social interactions influence mental processes. Evolutionary psychology: how evolutionary history has shaped our mental processes. Psycholinguistics: what are the psychological processes underlying language production and comprehension. The main common methodology: lab experimentation (design, hypothesis, testing and then analysis) The imagery debate of the 70"s: shepherd and metzler mental rotation experiments. Subjects showed pairs of drawing of 3d figures (asymmetric)
