We need to understand these forces that put cultural heritage at risk. It may be true that the law cannot change the heart but it can restrain the heartless martin. Many types of property get designated after 1975: these include 19th century homes, mining complexes, log homes and barns, gardens, Skyscrapers, mayfair theatre in ottawa (inside space is protected) Thousands of properties designated under the ontario heritage act since 1975. It can lose its protection though: municipal council ultimately holds responsibility. 106 heritage conservation districts in ontario as of december 2012.
