Culture: schein defined it as shared values, assumptions and beliefs, artifacts. Terminal values: end goal; something that we could value at the end (career & happiness) Instrumental values: end justifies means, machiavelli said that, (health, equity) Culture influences our behaviour with; cues, sensing/noticing, interpreting, judging, behaving. National culture: dimensions include power distance, collectivism, uncertainty avoidance, assertiveness, human orientation, gender egalitarianism, performance orientation, future orientation. Collectivism: the relationship between the individual and the group described by the degree to which societal and institutional practices encourage and reward collective action. Uncertainty avoidance: the extent to which ambiguous situations are threatening to individuals, to which rules and order are preferred, and to which uncertainty is tolerated in society. Human orientation: extent to which individuals in an organization or a society are encouraged or rewarded for being fair, altruistic, generous, caring, and generally kind to others. Gender egalitarianism: the extent to which an org or a society minimizes gender differences.
