Document Summary

Signs of glaciers in ontario include striations and erratics in rocks. Ecological or forest regions: based on dominant canopy-forming trees. Different forest regions and characteristics : tundra the most northern part of ontario which lies in the hudson. The tundra is one of the toughest spots in ontario in terms of animals and plant survival: the rock that underlies this area is sedimentary rock. The trees are not crazy large in this area but some larger willows can grow. Tree line: the southern limit of the tundra. Boundaries: northern = hudson bay, southern = tree line. Polar bear provincial park protects this area. The tundra area is very cold and because it is so cold the ground stays basically frozen all year-round. This also means that there are very little minerals in the soil because with frozen soil there is no decomposition. Elevation level of the tundra is 0-60 meters above sea level (asl).
