Understanding the natural world based on observable and measurable evidence. Uncertainty about phenomenon doesn"t mean we should doubt its existence. Qualitative data are notes and photographs; harder to quantify. Quantitative data are displayed graphically and analyzed statistically. Theory: explanation based on first principle or undeniable facts or body of measurable evidence. Theories are modified or replaced when new evidences are gathered. Prediction: food is positively correlated with abundance, looks at the land use. Organisms are suited for life in their environments. It is the changes in the genetic composition of a population from generation to generation. Evolution is seen in a population level, not individual. Population can evolve over time due to factors that causes it to shit. Pattern: how life is changing over time; looking at fossils, dna. Process: mechanisms using the changes; can be look at through theories and use models. Paley interpreted nature through description of the bible.
